A discourse on Feminism in the Middle East
United4Mahsa is holding a series of 10 events to open up discussions regarding the discourse on feminism, women’s rights and the ‘woman, life, freedom’ movement in Iran, and also the Middle East.
These events focus on human rights and women’s right in the Middle East, specifically in Iran, and the various issues surrounding this discourse.
This will be the third session in the series, focussing on the history and birth of the “Woman, Life Freedom” movement, known as "Jin, Jiyan, Azadi", and how such a powerful Kurdish female-fighting unit inspired and sparked what is now a women-led revolution in Iran. We will also bring up the discussion of patriarchal power in Iran, and the middle east, and the position of women in society as second-class citizens.

CALL FOR COLLECTIVE SONG AND MOVEMENT FOR HEALING
Through the power of collectivity, we want to give voice to our shared rage and frustration as well as our joy and healing.
We are calling on you to sing, move and feel in.
‘The Rapist Is You!’- the song devised by the Chilean feminist collective called Las Tesis has been performed by women all around the world since its inception in November 2019. This song speaks of the collective experience of bodies subject to the patriarchal violence in the state, the street or the home.
The feminist revolution happening in Iran right now, and its use of the Kurdish slogan Jin Jiyan Azadi, is a testament to how this moment is built upon previous feminist organising and the shared struggle against systems that benefit from our oppression. We want to hold a shared space for acknowledging the intersectionality of movements that have led to this point and the movements that will come in future times.
We will be singing the translated song in Farsi and English for solidarity with the movement currently in Iran and are inviting you to join us and perform this dance in Farsi and English on Sunday 13th November at Hyde Park London.
